I'm glad you enjoyed your experiences there. I spent a month in Nice on a study program many long years ago and couldn't get enough of all of the museums there and along the whole coast. And the train connections were great back then too -- who knows, perhaps even better! Unfortunately the Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine are pretty much a disaster zone as far as taking the train.
I've had a couple great lunches at the Swedish Institute -- when I could find a seat that is!
I was teaching high school French in the States and took a course there as part of my continuing education requirements. University credit was given through an American university, but we were enrolled in classes taught by French professors. I only remember 2 classes specifically, a translation class and a cultural and civilization class, but I think there were others. At the end, besides the American college credits, we took some sort of "certificat test" in French language.
Antibes is beautiful, and the whole region is definitely special. my only problem once you're outside of the big cities is its dependency on cars. https://k7v.in/we-let-cars-ruin-our-landscape

Oh, what did you study in Nice?
I agree—significant public investment is needed to improve train services there.
Even if simply passing, the Swedish Institute is always worth it!

It's great to read from you again, Kev.
For convenience, trains are the best option, offering charm alongside their inherent benefits when well implemented.
